Biography for Maria Fernanda - Arenas
Orlando, Florida
Maria was born in Boyaca, Colombia. From 1980 to 1983 she studied Emphasis in Human Figures and Calligraphy in the prestigious Academies in Bogota, then studied the artist Bodegones (light and shadow composition), for three years. Her current media is oil on wood, and she has had several solo shows in the United States.
Maria has a Degree in Fine Arts, University de la Sabana, Bogota, and a Masters in Education, University College Mayor de Nuestra Senora del Rosario.
Maria was inspired to create through her love of clay. She's worked with an array of art mediums - oil and/or acrylic on wood, oil on canvas, wall murals, and various textures.
She describes her art as a mental and visual journey to her countryside of Colombia. She hopes to impact the global community by sharing the culture of her region, Boyaca.
